Program Overview
Medicaid enables necessary health care coverage for eligible low‑income adults, children, pregnant women, elderly adults, and people with disabilities in our community. Caseloads continue to increase due to demographic changes and federal/state policy shifts, including the NY State of Health Benefit Exchange.

Recertification
If you recently received a notice that your Medicaid case was closed due to failure to recertify, you may still be able to have your coverage reinstated.
- Contact DSS at 607‑778‑1100 as soon as possible. (M–F 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM)
- Provide required recertification documentation.
- If submitted within 90 days and you remain eligible, your case may be reopened and coverage restored back to the original closing date.

Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program (CDPAP) Transition
On April 1, 2025, the NYS CDPAP transitioned to a Statewide Fiscal Intermediary (SFI), Public Partnership LLC (PPL).
Consumers and caregivers must register with PPL before April 1, 2025 to avoid delays in worker compensation.
