Health coverage for eligible low‑income adults, children, pregnant women, elderly adults, and people with disabilities.

Program Overview

Medicaid is a health insurance program that helps individuals and families access medical care.  Coverage may include doctor's visits, hospitals services, prescriptions, preventive care, and other necessary medical treatments.  Our agency processes applications for elderly adults (age 65 and over) and people with disabilities, determines their eligibility and assists them in maintaining their healthcare coverage.

Recertification

If you recently received a notice that your Medicaid case was closed due to failure to recertify, you may still be able to have your coverage reinstated.

  • Contact DSS at 607‑778‑1100 as soon as possible. (M–F 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM)
  • Provide required recertification documentation.
  • If submitted within 90 days and you remain eligible, your case may be reopened and coverage restored back to the original closing date.

Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program (CDPAP) Transition

On April 1, 2025, the NYS CDPAP transitioned to a Statewide Fiscal Intermediary (SFI), Public Partnership LLC (PPL).

Consumers and caregivers must register with PPL before April 1, 2025 to avoid delays in worker compensation.
