About the Mural: The design comprises a number of universal themes. The backdrop features oversized roses, chosen as the New York State flower. They are presented in two forms, representing the duality of love and the process of two becoming one. The desaturated roses symbolize traditional values and purity commonly associated with love, while the three vibrant, bold, graphic stripes which punctuate, represent the modern energy and potential of a new, blossoming relationship. Three stripes are intentionally used as this number has a great deal of significance within classical art, in particular, dating back to the Trinity . Small, subtle and occasional sprouts of green were used within the colored stripes to add realism and depth to the flowers.
