No leashes, no problem! Dogs can now run free in Otsiningo North at the brand-new Broome County Dog Park. The park was made possible with the support of a $25,000 grant from PetSafe. In 2021, Broome County was a winner of PetSafe’s Bark for Your Park contest; Broome was one of five communities that received the most votes nationwide.
“I am excited to welcome all dogs and their families to run freely here at the Broome County Dog Park,” said Broome County Executive Jason Garnar. “A new dog park has been a top request from our residents for years and this would not be here without their support. Thank you to everyone who helped make this a reality by voting for Broome County.”
“Dog parks have become more and more popular in recent years, improving the quality of life for dogs and their families,” said Brenda Gowe, Director of Parks, Recreation, & Youth Services. “Otsiningo North is the perfect spot for the new Broome County Dog Park, as it is accessible for our residents as well as those traveling along I-81. We look forward to welcoming dogs from all over to their new park.”
The Broome County Dog Park is equipped with two separate fenced-in areas; one for large dogs and one for small dogs. There is also a secure entry point to each side where owners can remove and secure leashes before and after entering the park. Additionally, the park includes walking paths, benches, trees, water bowls, and clean-up stations. The Broome County Dog Park will be open daily from dawn until dusk.
