(TOWN OF COLESVILLE, NY) – Broome County Parks, Recreation, and Youth Services announces the 3rd Annual Beach Bash at Nathaniel Cole Park on Saturday, August 24, presented by Visions Federal Credit Union.
This free event will begin at 2 p.m. with swimming, boating, beach games, bounce houses, face painting, and other fun summer activities. Live music begins at 3 p.m., featuring WildCard followed by Beard of Bees. Cornell Cooperative Extension-Broome County will be holding a pond study and nature walk. Entertainment will include illusionist David Black starting at 7 p.m. and a hula hooper performance at 8 p.m. At dusk, parks staff will light fire pits across the beach where visitors can relax and roast marshmallows for s’mores. When the stars come out, Cole Park will be lit up with a fireworks show over the water!
Food vendors will be on-site serving hot dogs, sausages, sandwiches, barbeque, funnel cakes, pastries, ice cream, Italian ice, iced coffee, bubble tea, lemonade, and snacks. We also encourage you to take advantage of the park’s grills by bringing your own charcoal, lighters, and food to cook.
On-site parking is free, and BC Transit is offering free rides to Beach Bash from the Visions Veterans Memorial Arena in Binghamton. A bus will depart the Arena at 2:30, 3:30, 4:30, 5:30, 6:30, and 7:30 p.m.; buses will return from Cole Park at 3:00, 4:00, 5:00, 6:00, 7:00, and 9:00 p.m. For those arriving with their own vehicle, drivers should be prepared for heavy traffic exiting the park. Broome Security will be on hand to direct vehicles in and out. Dogs are permitted, on a leash, in all areas of the park except the beach. Owners must clean up after their pets.
All Broome County parks are smoke-free, except in the parking lots. Drones as well as remote-controlled boats and cars are also prohibited.
Vendors will include Downtown Danny’s, Pinkies Barbeque, Here’s the Twist Ice Cream, Sammy’s Ice Cream and Italian Ice, 2nd Heaven, Brightside Coffee, Funnel Cake/Lemonade and more! Organizations that will be attending include Broome County Solid Waste, mothers and Babies Perinatal Network; WIC, Broome County Health Department, Broome County Overdose Prevention, STIC, and The Moss House.
