(WHITNEY POINT, NY) Broome County Parks, Recreation, and Youth Services Director Elizabeth Woidt and County Executive Jason Garnar announced Monday the opening of the 2021 parks season. Memorial Day Weekend marks the official launch of boating and camping season at the County’s nine parks.
“Despite certain restrictions that were in place, last year was one of the busiest summers ever in our Broome County parks,” Woidt said. “This year we’re excited to welcome back all our guests plus groups and special events which promises for an even better parks season.”
“After the past year, people are more eager than ever to get out and have fun,” Garnar said. “And you don’t have to travel far for summer fun; whether you’re looking to boat, fish, hike, have a picnic, or just relax, Broome County’s parks have something for everyone.”
Parks will be open from 8:00 AM until dusk daily. Starting this weekend through Labor Day, the following amenities are available:
⁃ boat rentals, 7 days/ week 11AM- 7:30 PM (last rental out at 6:30 PM)
⁃ Beaches open 7 days/ week 11AM- 7:30 PM
⁃ Concessions are available at Cole and Greenwood 7 days/ week 11 AM - 7 PM
⁃ Camping open 7/days a week $25/ night
⁃ Pavilions available for rental $35 weekday. $95 weekend and holiday.
The Department of Parks, Recreation, and Youth Services reminds all visitors to follow park rules and practice proper etiquette when using trails, beaches, boats, and other park equipment.
