Broome County Department of Parks, Recreation & Youth Services is pleased to announce the 10th Annual Scarecrow Display Contest, to take place at Otsiningo Park in the Town of Dickinson, October 1st-24th, 2025.

Individuals, families, businesses, clubs, groups and organizations may enter for a chance to win prizes. Entry is FREE of charge for this event. 

Entry forms are due by September 25, 2024. Scarecrows must be completed and set up at the Otsiningo Park between September 27th -30th

Vote for your favorite scarecrow by visiting Otsiningo Park and cast your vote at the voting station!!! Voting begins 10/1/25-10/24/25.

Winners will be announced October 27th!

RULES and ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

• Contest is free of charge and open to anyone (individuals, families, groups, businesses). Participants must set up their entries at Otsiningo Park in the Town of Dickinson Sept. 27 - Sept. 30, 2025.


•Participants will be assigned a spot and provided a 5-ft post, but must supply their own means to secure the scarecrow to the post.Total display size must not exceed 6 ft   high and 8 feet wide. Entries must be weather-resistant; the use of perishable items is not  recommended. Participants are responsible for maintaining their entry   throughout the contest duration.


• Participants may include a sign with their display, indicating the name of the group, family, or business, if desired; signs may not exceed 11x17 inches. No handouts or        free giveaways may be associated with entries.


•Winners will be determined by votes placed at the park by park visitors.Voting will take place10/1-10/24/25. Winners will be announced on Monday,10/27/25.


• All entries must be removed between 10/25-10/31. Items remaining after that time will become property of Broome County Parks.


•Broome County Parks is not responsible for ay lost, stolen or damaged items. This is a family-friendly event. No gruesome or horrific entries will be permitted. No Soliciting.


•Broome County Parks reserves the right to refuse or remove any entry deemed offensive or inappropriate.
