(ENDICOTT, NY) After the announcement that the Boys and Girls Club of Western Broome would be shutting its doors, Broome County is planning on leasing its former building located at 1 Club House Rd. in Endicott. Broome County is stepping in to secure the building and keep it running, in order to maintain the structure for future programming.
This is part of a plan to bring new life into the building as the Boys and Girls Club programming will not be returning to the facility. The County is working with at least a dozen other county agencies to provide replacement programming in the facility.
“Since I first heard the news of the Boys & Girls Club of Western Broome closing its doors this has been a concern and a top priority for my team,” said County Executive Jason Garnar. “While we are sad to see the Boys & Girls Club go, we are doing everything we can to work with other Broome County organizations so that programming can continue to be provided for our residents.”
The County Executive will continue to meet with stakeholders as they consider the next steps for the facility in hopes of bringing back vital services for the community.
The county plans to begin leasing once a resolution is passed by the Broome County Legislature.
