Broome County Executive Jason Garnar and Binghamton Mayor Jared Kraham announced Thursday $50,000 in upgrades to the community food pantry program run by Outreach Ministries.

Garnar. “Outreach Ministries does amazing work to help thousands of people and never missed a beat throughout the COVID pandemic. Broome County is proud to partner with the City of Binghamton to provide resources to expand the important mission of serving our community."
“The community food pantry operated by Outreach Ministries has fed thousands of local residents over the years and provided a critical lifeline to vulnerable families and seniors during the Covid-19 pandemic especially,” said Mayor Jared M. Kraham. “The funds provided by the City of Binghamton and Broome County will help the volunteer-driven program make the necessary upgrades to serve more residents.”
The City of Binghamton is allocating $30,000 in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to the program. Broome County is allocating $20,000.
The funds will support the purchase of a new walk-in freezer, refrigerator and shelving for the community food pantry.
Each month, Outreach Ministries, in partnership with Broome Bounty, distributes groceries to about 4,440 residents through the pantry at Saints Cyril & Methodius Church. The community food pantry is open Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The pantry is open to all in need.
