JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Public Works Department is seeking to hire a 3A Chief WWTPO to operate our 3A Wastewater Treatment Plant.
This position has supervisory responsibility for the complete and actual operation of a Wastewater Treatment Plant. The incumbent also directs and oversees both the maintenance and repair of the wastewater treatment plant. The work is performed under the general direction of the Superintendent of Public Works. The incumbent supervises the work of all subordinate wastewater treatment plant operators, mechanics and laborers. Does related work as required.
Possession of the required Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator certificate as issued by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, appropriate to the plant, at time of appointment.
NOTE: Incumbents in this position may be required to be on call/respond to emergencies on weekends, evenings and holidays.

Broome County is seeking an experienced professional engineer to serve as the Department of Public Works Deputy Commissioner of Engineering. The Deputy Commissioner is responsible for supervising the County engineering staff who manage the design and construction of all Broome County engineering projects under the jurisdiction of Public Works. Additionally, this position consults with and advises the Commissioner, Budget Director, and other County officials in determining which capital and non-recurring repairs and replacement projects best meet the needs of the County.
The successful candidate must possess NYS PE license, and thorough knowledge of civil engineering practices and principles, with preferred experience in both design and construction administration. A good working knowledge of budgeting and financial record keeping, personnel administration, supervision, and administrative practices and controls are critical. The candidate must possess the ability to work cooperatively and effectively communicate with department staff, other department managers, and members of the public.
The Public Defender shall represent, without charge or by order of the Court with the consent of the defendant, each indigent defendant who is charged with a crime as defined by Section 722(a) of the County Law. The work involves responsibility for directing the investigation, preparation and counsel of the defendant at every stage of the proceedings following arrest and shall initiate such proceedings as are necessary to protect the rights of the accused and may prosecute any appeals if the facts and circumstances warrant such. In addition, the Public Defender may assign professional, technical and clerical personnel in the investigation, preparation, conduct and appeal in any court proceedings involving indigent defendants. The work is performed under guidelines provided by law. Does related work as required.
