Will the person know I reported them?
The goal of this team is to intervene with individuals on the pathway to violence. This would include safeguarding the identity of any known individuals involved.
Information is shared only with agencies that have a legitimate need to know in order to assess and manage risk. Anonymous reports are accepted, although providing your contact information may help clarify details.
Does someone have to threaten violence?
No, you should not wait till the individual threatens violence. If they have a grievance and are showing signs of extremism or radicalization, it should be reported with or without the threat of violence.
Is this monitored 24/7?
This team is focused on a prevention model based upon 50 years of research. If there is an imminent threat(Actively traveling to target) to public safety, this would require a response team. In such an event, it would be best to call 911, as they can dispatch response resources fast.
What if they're having a mental health crisis?
This team collaborates with multiple mental health agencies spread across our county as well as New York State to provide Mental Health expertise to our team to help aid individuals on the pathway to violence.
