(TOWN OF DICKINSON, NY) On Thursday Broome County Executive Jason Garnar and Chairman of the Broome County Legislature Daniel J. Reynolds announced the Broome County Dog Shelter is being renamed the “James D. Dadamio Broome County Dog Shelter” in honor of retiring Director of Broome County Security James D. Dadamio.
Dadamio has over 36 years of experience as a New York State Peace Officer with Broome County Government Security Division, serving as the Director since July 2006. The Security Division provides diverse and unique levels of Law enforcement services to various County Departments all designed to achieve and maintain an efficient, safe, and orderly work environment for County employees and visitors.
As Director, he has overseen the Broome County Dog Shelter which provides a safe and healthy environment for the stray and unwanted dog population within the County.
Dadamio has been recognized as a leader throughout New York State in the detection and prevention of Welfare Fraud, participated on numerous policy advising committees with local and state officials, and served for 6 years as President of the New York State Welfare Fraud Investigators Association. He has delivered numerous training presentations on personal risk awareness, field safety and other security practices to both the public and private sectors in the Eastern United States and in the United Kingdom.
