(BINGHAMTON, NY) – Broome County Executive Jason Garnar joined the Binghamton Black Bears Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations Brooks Hill on Friday afternoon to kick off the Black Bears’ quarterfinals weekend playoff series against the Watertown Wolves in the Federal Prospects Hockey League (FPHL).
This weekend’s quarterfinal series is a best-of-three round. The Black Bears are at Watertown tonight (7:30 p.m. drop) and the teams are in Binghamton to play Game 2 starting at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Visions Veterans Memorial Arena in downtown Binghamton. If the teams split those two games, the deciding contest will be played at 6 p.m. Sunday in Binghamton.
"The Black Bears organization is ecstatic to once again be hosting playoff hockey for the third consecutive season,” said Hill. “We have aspirations of going all the way this year and all of us are behind Coach Brant Sherwood and the team in the locker room."
“As the Black Bears head into this exciting playoff series, I urge the community to come together and rally behind our hometown team,” said Garnar. “Let’s show our unwavering support and pride as we cheer them on to victory!”
During the 2023-24 regular season, 56 games were played by each team. While the Black Bears have 46 wins in the regular season, ranking them No. 1 in the Empire Division, the Wolves are ranked No. 4 with 25 wins.
