Broome County Parks Finalist for PetSafe Bark for Your Park Grant

Winner to be Determined by Public Voting Period Which Runs Through August 31

[Town Of Chenango, NY] – The Broome County Department of Parks, Recreation, and Youth Services has been named a finalist for the PetSafe Bark for Your Park grant contest. Broome Parks is one of just 30 finalists competing for a $25,000 award that will help build a new dog park and they need the public’s help to make it a reality. Starting today, anyone over the age of 18 can vote once per day for Broome County. Voting ends on August 31st, with the top ten vote recipients winning grant funding.

“We are extremely excited to be a finalist for the PetSafe Dog Park Grant,” said Elizabeth Woidt, Director of Broome County Parks, Recreation, and Youth Services. “Nearly 40% of households in Broome County have at least one dog and families are always looking for additional places that  provide a fun and safe atmosphere for dogs to run and play off-leash. I encourage all residents to vote daily to help make this park a reality.”

Finalists were chosen from a panel of PetSafe judges that scored each submission on the level of enthusiasm and support for a dog park project within the community and the impact that a dog park project will have on the community. Participants entered to win funds for either a new park or to improve an existing dog park. Following the contest voting period, five communities with the highest votes will receive $25,000 for the construction of a new park and five will be awarded $5,000 to enhance their local dog parks.
