Steve Flagg (R) was first elected in 2012, and was re-elected to a new term representing Legislative District 1 in 2022. District 1 includes the Towns of Colesville and Fenton, and portions of the Town of Kirkwood and the City of Binghamton. From December 2015 to December 2017, Mr. Flagg served as Majority Leader.

Steve’s legislative duties will have him serving as the Chairman of the Finance Committee, which oversees the annual County Budget, and as a member of the County Administration Committee, which oversees County operations and governance.

In Steve’s own words, “whether it's the fight for keeping taxes low, providing best value for the tax revenues received, ensuring fiscal responsibility, supporting our Sheriff's Office, and fixing local roads, I will stand by the side of our communities across Broome County working for a better tomorrow.”

Steve has been employed at BAE Systems since 2005 and currently serves as a Subcontracts Manager. He brings with him over 20 years of private sector work experience to the County Legislature.

Prior to Steve’s election to the County Legislature, he served as a Town of Colesville Council member for four years. During his four year term he helped implement a road usage agreement for heavy truck traffic, pass a comprehensive noise ordinance law, enact a residential windmill law, and address flooding damage by working with a local engineering firm to assist in receiving FEMA funding.

Steve is a graduate of Binghamton University, BCC and Windsor High School. He, his wife, Jody, and their four children reside in the Town of Colesville.
