(BINGHAMTON, NY) – The Broome County Environmental Management Council (EMC), in partnership with the Broome-Tioga Stormwater Coalition, is excited to invite community groups, organizations, and individuals to participate in the 38th Annual Broome County Riverbank Cleanup.
This event provides an opportunity to help keep our waterways clean and beautiful. Over the years, volunteers have removed tons of trash and debris from local rivers and streams, contributing to a healthier environment.
The 38th Annual Broome County Riverbank Cleanup will take place on Saturday, October 19, 2024, from 8 a.m. to noon. Participants must preregister by October 11, 2024.
The EMC will provide light supplies as available, help arrange trash collection, and assist with selecting a cleanup location. We are grateful to the local businesses who have donated this year’s supplies – Lowe’s Home Improvement, Home Central, and Harbor Freight Tools (all Vestal, NY locations).
This year, we are moving our efforts to include sites outside of the riverbank. If you know a site in need of cleanup that isn’t listed on the registration form, please provide the location and we will work to accommodate it. For student groups, we are offering flexibility to schedule their cleanups during the weekend or week prior to the main event.
To register, visit the Environmental Management Council’s website at https://broomecountyny.gov/emc/riverbankcleanup and follow the steps to sign up. For questions or additional information, please contact emcbroomecounty@gmail.com or (607) 778-2911.
