Within the next few weeks, we will be relocating to our new scale house, TEMPORARILY. If you are looking to access our recycling drop off, you will use our ORIGINAL entrance. If you are looking to dispose of garbage, or anything besides general recycling, you will need to use our NEW entrance to access the new scales. Please be alert and look for new signage for directions.
One of the primary challenges of our recycling program is contamination, which is non-recyclable materials that are put into recycling bins and ultimately disposes of. It is increasingly important to reduce the amount of contaminants in recycling streams to maintain a sustainable recycling system. Now it is easier than ever before to offer recycling at public events.
The Division of Solid Waste now has specialized ClearStream recycling units available for loan. The units are compact and easy to use.

Material Exchange Program
Broome County is excited to be a partner of the MAT-EX Western/Central NY Materials Exchange Program. Mat-ex is a reuse program that provides opportunities for material exchanges to be made therefore keeping non-hazardous, reusable materials out of the landfill. Materials are listed under two categories: wanted and available.
