(BROOME COUNTY, NY) Broome County Executive Jason Garnar announced Tuesday that the County will no longer cap third-party food delivery service fees. A 15% cap was instituted in December via Emergency Order during the height of pandemic locally. The order was put in place to protect local restaurants against potential price gouging at a time when many people relied on delivery service for take-out food.
“The COVID pandemic had a devastating impact on our local food service industry and we stepped in to provide much-needed relief to these small businesses,” said County Executive Garnar. “As the public health situation continues to improve and our economy reopens, local restaurants are starting to see more visitors come through their doors. We believe we are now in a position where we can allow this Emergency Order to expire.”
