(BINGHAMTON, NY) – On Monday Broome County Executive Jason Garnar and members of the Broome County Office of Emergency Services and the Broome County Health Department came together to announce details of a mobile COVID-19 Rapid Testing Site in Broome County.
Following a spike in COVID-19 cases in Broome County, New York state has provided the County with Abbott Rapid Testing Machines and testing supplies to help manage the uptick.
"Thank you to the state for providing these resources," said Broome County Executive Jason Garnar. "This rapid testing will be critical in helping stop the spread in Broome County. By quickly getting results we will be able to immediately begin the contact tracing process."
A Broome County Transit Bus has been converted into a mobile testing unit. That unit will first be deployed to the West Side of Binghamton to help address a cluster of cases tied to the 13905 zip code. The County will also be able to send the unit across the area wherever testing is needed.
This mobile test site is only for people who are exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19. It will be set up in the parking lot of St. Patrick's Church from October 5th through 9th, located at 9 Leroy St in Binghamton. The testing site will be open to the public from Monday to Friday 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.
