  • Meals on Wheels Volunteer Open House

Would you like to learn about a rewarding volunteer opportunity as a Meals on Wheels driver and visitor?  Stop by the open house at 85 Walnut Street in Binghamton, April 29 – May 3, from 10:30am to noon.

Without volunteers, Meals on Wheels would be unable to deliver nourishing meals to seniors who are unable to prepare their own meals. Many participants are homebound and as meals are delivered, volunteers provide a check on each participant’s
well-being. Often, a volunteer is the only person a participant may see in a day.

Routes are available throughout Broome County. Volunteers are needed on weekdays, 11:15am – 1pm. For more information, call 607-778-6205.

  • May is National Older Americans Month!

This year’s theme, Connect, Create, Contribute, encourages older adults to:

Connect with friends, family, and services that support community participation
Create by engaging in activities that promote learning, health, and personal enrichment
Contribute time, talent, and life experience to benefit others

A key to healthy aging is staying active and socially engaged. Learn how you can “Connect, Create, Contribute” at your local senior center. Visit broomecountyny.gov/senior for all the services the Office for Aging offers, including senior centers. You can also call the Office at 607-778-2411.

We hope you will join us in celebrating Older Americans Month!
