Broome County Ad Hoc Committee on Redistricting Completes Work (Again)

The Broome County Legislature Ad Hoc Committee on Redistricting this evening concluded its work and voted to forward a final recommended proposal on to the County Legislature.

The plan was approved in a bi-partisan, unanimous vote 9-0.

The Ad Hoc Committee was made up of current Legislators, members of the community at large, a representative of the League of Women Voters and a representative of local government.

The final recommended plan by the Ad Hoc Committee will be forwarded on to the County Administration Committee for consideration at its January 12 meeting. If approved by the County Administration Committee, the plan would be sent on for a full vote of the Legislature at its January 19 meeting.

The public is encouraged to view the plan on the County's website at broomecountyny.gov/legis. A link to the map is highlighted on the left side of the page.

The Ad Hoc Committee met in open meetings eight times between February 2011 and January 2012. The new plan adopted this evening was in response to a veto of the previously approved plan by former County Executive Patrick Brennan.
