Q. What is Healthy Broome?

  1. Healthy Broome is a no-cost community health event hosted through the U.S. Department of Defense’s Innovative Readiness Training (IRT) program. 

Q. What services will be offered?

  1. Medical, dental, optometry, and veterinary services.

Q. Who can receive services?

  1. All services are open to the public; No insurance or payment is required. 

Q. Do I need an appointment?

  1. No; Services are provided on a walk-in basis and are first-come, first-served each day.

Q. What should I bring with me?

  1. Bring any medical history or records you can provide, including a list of current prescriptions.

Q. Will minors be able to receive services?

  1. Yes; Children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian to receive services.

Q. What types of pets are eligible for veterinary services?

  1. Dogs and cats only; Must be on a leash or in a carrier.

Q. Will food or water be available at the site?

  1. Food and beverages will not be available; We encourage visitors to bring water and snacks.

Q. Is the site ADA accessible?

  1. Yes; SUNY Broome’s campus is ADA-compliant.

Q. Will follow-up care be provided after the event?

  1. Follow-up services are not provided as part of the mission. However, local health resources will be on site for individuals who may need additional care.

Q. Is emergency care available at this event?

  1. No; Healthy Broome does not provide emergency or urgent care services; If you are experiencing a medical emergency, please call 911 or go directly to the nearest emergency room.
