Focused on Economic Growth, Housing, and Strengthening Broome County’s Future
(BROOME COUNTY, NY) – Broome County Executive Jason Garnar delivered his 2025 State of the County Address Thursday evening in the Legislative Chambers of the Edwin L. Crawford County Office Building. During his address, Garnar spoke about the strong bipartisan partnership between his administration and the County Legislature, emphasizing how working together has driven progress and strengthened Broome County. He highlighted key accomplishments made possible through collaboration and outlined priorities to continue building a stronger future for residents.
“We’ve come so far since 2017 and have worked to move Broome County forward,” said County Executive Garnar. “We’re not only making investments for today, but we are laying the foundation for long-term growth. From job creation to housing development, infrastructure improvements, and child care expansion, we are taking action to ensure Broome County continues to thrive. “
Highlights of Garnar’s address included:
- Broome County’s progress since 2017, including reductions in overdoses, unemployment, and the property tax rate
- Investments in public safety and law enforcement
- Impact of county department services on residents’ lives
- Major projects being completed in 2025, including the Veterans Resource Center, Greater Binghamton Airport, and Grippen Park
- Continued economic development and job creation
- Expanding access to child care
- Addressing housing needs with more than 800 units under construction and another 850+ units set to begin soon
This marks County Executive Garnar’s 9th State of the County address and the first since being re-elected to a historic third term.
