Yesteryears - Group Respite
Yesteryears is a social adult day program offering frail, isolated or memory-impaired seniors over 60 years of age structured, supervised activities in a warm, caring environment.
Caregiver Services
Caregivers are the family and friends who voluntarily take care of older persons in our community. The Caregiver Services Program is supported by a grant from the U.S. Administration on Aging, New York State Office for Aging, and Broome County.
Elder Abuse Outreach Program
The Elder Abuse Outreach Program represents a cooperative agreement between the Broome County Office for Aging and the Broome County Department of Social Services.
Foster Grandparents
Would You Like To Be A Classroom Volunteer And Get Paid? If you are age 55 or over and have at least 5 hours a week to volunteer, consider becoming a classroom “grandparent.”

The Office for Aging is a central source for accurate, up-to-date information on programs, services and benefits for seniors and caregivers. Information is provided through our Information and Assistance Representatives.
In-Home Services
Services are available to help older individuals remain independent in their homes when they are experiencing difficulty with activities of everyday life.
Legal Services
The Legal Services for the Elderly Program is funded by the Office for Aging and services are provided by Legal Aid Society of Mid-New York. To be eligible for free legal services, you must be 60 years of age and older, a resident of Broome County, and have an economic or social need for legal services.
Meals on Wheels
The Broome County Office for Aging’s Meals on Wheels program is a home-delivered meal service available to eligible seniors who are unable to regularly prepare healthy meals for themselves
Nutrition Counseling
Nutrition counseling and education can help you develop a personal diet plan to achieve better health.
NY Connects
NY Connects provides information, assistance and referrals for Long Term Services and Supports for people of any age and regardless of income. NY Connects Caseworkers help people maneuver the complex system of services in the community.
OFA Senior ID Card
The Broome County Office for Aging Identification Card, or ID Card provides you with proof of age and identification for Office for Aging programs, including Senior Center meals and the Broome County Mini Bus transportation system.
Senior Centers
Senior Centers are located throughout Broome County and offer activities, meals, and group trips.
Senior Helpers Program
The Senior Helpers Program is a job matching service. Anyone can request to hire a Senior Helper - there is no age or income requirement. To become a Senior Helper (person available for hire), one must live in Broome County and be at least 55 years of age.
Transportation Opportunities
If you are 60 years of age or older and need assistance in getting to medical appointments, senior centers, shopping or other appointments, we can help. Options in Broome County include fixed route and paratransit buses, as well as hiring a Senior Helpers driver.
