(TOWN OF DICKINSON, NY) On Monday, Broome County Executive Jason Garnar provided an update on the COVID-19 response in Broome County.
Three new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed Monday, bringing the total number of positive cases to five. Two of these individuals are in isolation at their homes, two are hospitalized, and one passed away. The Broome County Health Department will continue to contact anyone who may have been exposed to the individuals who tested positive and will provide updated numbers on its website at broomecountyny.gov/hd/coronavirus.
County Executive Garnar also announced the establishment of a new donation drop-off site for much needed supplies at the former Macy’s building at the Oakdale Mall (entrance across from Wegmans). The County is calling on residents and businesses to donate these much-needed supplies.
The site will accept only the following unused personal protective equipment:
- N-95 and surgical masks
- Medical gowns
- Medical plastic face shields
- Medical gloves
- Medical shoe covers
- No other items are being accepted at this time.
The site will be open Monday – Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. starting Tuesday, March 24th.
Additionally, following guidance from New York State, County Executive Garnar signed an emergency order Monday closing all public playgrounds, athletic courts, and sporting fields.
Broome County officials remind you to stay home, avoid contact with others and if you feel sick and do not need immediate assistance, please contact your healthcare provider via phone or virtual health with questions prior to heading to the emergency room.
