(BINGHAMTON, NY) The Broome County Legislature unanimously approved County Executive Jason Garnar’s plan to lease the former Boys and Girls Club of Western Broome’s 60,000 square foot building for up to six (6) months for one dollar. Broome County will provide utilities, maintenance, and security for the building.
“I want to thank Chairman Daniel J. Reynolds and the rest of the Legislature for approving the lease which is a vital first step in developing a long-term plan to bring back the important programs and services that served thousands of kids, seniors, and families for so many years,” said County Executive Garnar.
Broome County officials are meeting with a number of community members and organizations who have expressed strong interest in providing a number of different programs and services at the building.
One of those organizations is the Broome County Urban League, who is signing a lease with Broome County to move their administrative offices, ATTAIN Lab, and many other programs to the building.
“I’m really excited to see the Broome County Urban League expand their operations to Western Broome County. It’s a very good sign that we’re going to fill this entire building with great community organizations that will be providing so many great programs and services” said Garnar.
