Innovative Readiness Training (IRT)

Broome County and the United States Department of Defense have partnered for a joint mission called Innovative Readiness Training named Healthy Broome. The mission will offer medical, dental, optometry, and veterinary services at no cost to residents from August 11 to August 20, 2025, at SUNY Broome Community College’s Ice Center. Veterinary services are being performed at the Broome County Humane Society. 


Healthy Broome Services

The following services will be offered at no-cost to attendees:

Medical (Ages 16+): Preventative care, acute disease management, appropriate referrals

(Ages 6-18): School physicals

(Ages 18+): Behavioral health screenings 
Dental (Ages 16+): Dental exams, oral cancer screenings, hygiene education, pain management, X-rays, fillings, and simple to moderate extractions
Optometry (Ages 5+): Refractions, screenings for glaucoma and macular degeneration, dilated diabetic eye exams, fabrication of eyeglasses 9pick up the following day)
Veterinary: Spay/neuter (dogs and cats only)

Note: Veterinary services will be conducted at the Humane Society.
